Rick and Jenny come at life from two different directions.

Jenny came from a large family with six brothers and sisters. As a result, she grew up with a strong sense of family and in just a couple of years out of high school was married and beginning a family of her own.

Rick was single until he was 39.

Jenny loved being a stay at home mom and caring for her two daughters.

Rick traveled in a rock band, eventually leading to a career as a recording engineer.

Jenny unexpectedly found herself in the position of being a single mother, and Rick was beginning to think that it might be nice to settle down, perhaps even find a girl with a couple of small children and jump start a family: the stage was set.

Rick and Jenny met in the early part of 1989 and were married in the latter part of the same year. The one thing most responsible for bringing them together was the desire they shared to put their faith at the center of their lives.

Rick and Jenny took the Natural Family Planning classes that had been recommended to them and were, frankly, blown away by every aspect of the course. The lifestyle it presented to them was aesthetically rich, physically and emotionally healthful, and scientifically and theologically sound. Rick and Jenny felt a calling to share the method and became certified instructors for The Couple to Couple League International.

They are currently the President Couple of the Des Moines Chapter of CCL, and assigned by Bishop Charron to serve as Diocesan Liaison for Natural Family Planning.

In the mid 1990's Rick and Jenny were called to an even deeper expression of their faith, and together, entered Diaconate Formation with the Diocese of Des Moines. After three and a half years of course work at Conception Seminary, Rick was ordained a Deacon of the Catholic Church in August of 2001.

Their training and the many experiences they shared while going through that process has helped them to fall deeper in love with each other, and the Catholic Church.

Rick and Jenny enjoy having the opportunity to share their story and just as they've had to meet in the middle in their relationship, they hope we all can meet at the center in Jesus Christ.

Deacon Rick is serving at St Pius X Parish in Urbandale. He has his own business, Rick Condon Productions, and writes, produces and records music and writes and produces corporate films. He is also an adjunct instructor for a music production course at Drake University.

Jenny is a graduate student at Drake University seeking an Adult Learning Education degree and works fulltime in sales and development at KWKY.

Together Deacon Rick and Jenny share two daughters. Janet is a Theology teacher at Dowling Catholic High School and lives in Des Moines with her new husband Tyler Regier, and Janelle who is currently living at home while attending Drake University School of Journalism is also busy planning her May wedding to Frank Kennedy.
